Good-bye to Neil :(

After dropping off the car, I metro’d down to Neil’s hotel. I didn’t get to reach him by phone before I went down there, but I figured it was a good bet for our plan, anyway – and considering my parking garage is closer to a metro station now than my apartment, I took the risk. We headed out from his hotel for an aperitif and went by the DogStar pub, a brand-new joint next to our new-favorite bar. Not bad, but smelled like paint and the fluorescent lights changed color every 2 minutes it seemed. Since we went back to the hotel for my coat anyway, we got a recommendation for dinner. We knew we didn’t want more French food, so we took the consistent recommendation for a place called Spicy that billed itself as Mediterranean. Funnily enough, it was very close to Neil’s hotel, and even funnier, it’s a lot more French than Mediterranean. So instead we found a tiny Chinese joint that was pretty full – we figured that was a good sign. After shrimp, beef, and noodles, we went back to the Charlie Dicky for a drink. Again, a good time there – they’ve got couches that looked like they were bought from a Paris flea market in the ‘60’s, but they make really good drinks. When my eyelids were dropping we went back to Neil’s hotel (since Neil was leaving in the morning) where I again cried a little saying good-bye to a friend. Why do I do this?! Guess it means I’m blessed to have such wonderful friends, but wish I could keep it in control a little better. Ah, well. I had a wonderful time with my first friend in Paris. (Thank you, Neil. :)) Can’t wait to see more of you here!
