Braving my first transport strike, and French pour un
Uneventful except for one thing: my first transportation strike as a Parisienne. Metros, RERs, buses, all public transport – again, because of the same labor law the students are striking over. I left early for work anticipating more car traffic, but nope, I sailed to work with no problem. I’d heard that people often just stayed home on strike days, and judging by the traffic patterns, it’s true. After work I also left early to get to French class, and again, no problems – traffic was ok, and the metro line I needed wasn’t one of the ones affected. This time in French class, I was the only one. Not sure what’s happened to the Canadian woman and the German guy – the Spanish guy was there last week, but maybe he skipped out due to the strike. Not sure. Either way, I don’t care, it’s better for me – means I get a private lesson, really. And I did have a great class – I felt like I got to interrupt the teacher a little more to ask questions. (She doesn’t invite them, by the way – you gotta edge your way in there if you want to ask something. Otherwise she’s on a roll.)
